Best Zombie Games PS5 You Can Play Right Now
There’s just something about zombie games that just keeps drawing us over and over. Maybe it’s the thrill of the struggle to survive, the adrenaline rush of killing a horde of the undead, or maybe it’s just the pure enjoyment of bashing zombie heads in with whatever crazy weapon you can come up with. Whatever it is, if you’ve got a PS5 and you’re a zombie enthusiast, you’re in business—you’ve got some straight-up killer zombie games PS5 has to offer to play.
If you’re in the mood for a no-nonsense horror experience, an open world experience, or some frantic co-op action, there’s something for every zombie fan here.

Dead Island 2
Release Date: April 21, 2023
And then, finally, after all these years of development purgatory, Dead Island 2 was released, and believe me—it was well worth the wait. The game takes place in a sun-baked, zombie-infested Los Angeles (or “HELL-A,” as the game itself nicknames it), and it’s all about excessively over-the-top melee combat, excessively creative weaponry, and an ample helping of dark humor.
The gore system is also great, with zombies actually exploding depending on where you strike them. It’s not a game that tries to be taken seriously, and that’s one of the reasons that it is so much fun. Whether you’re drop-kicking zombies from buildings or immolating them with an electrified machete, you’re in for a wild ride.

7 Days to Die
Release Date: July 2024 (PS5 Edition)
If you’d like your zombie games with a side of realistic gore, 7 Days to Die’s your game. This is raw survival—crafting, scavenging, building bases, and not getting murdered (easier said than done).
Every week, the game will unleash a zombie horde on you, so make sure your defenses are ready. There’s a bit of Minecraft vs. The Walking Dead here, but hardcore-style. If you’re a fan of survival mechanics and want a challenge, try this one.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
Release Date: September 19, 2024
If you never had the chance to play the original Dead Rising, now is your opportunity. This remastered version brings the 2006 cult classic into the current era with improved graphics and tighter gameplay.
You’re Frank West, a photographer stuck in a zombie-ridden shopping mall. The best part? Anything is a weapon—lawnmowers, guitars, teddy bears, the works. You’ve got a timer, so you’ve got to balance saving survivors, figuring out the mystery, and not becoming lunch. It’s crazy, it’s silly, and it’s still one of the greatest zombie games ever created.

Dying Light: The Beast
Coming Summer 2025
If Dying Light 2 wasn’t enough, then Dying Light: The Beast vows to take it to the next level. This expansion pack is a standalone game that takes everything that made the original great—fluid parkour, brutal melee combat, and an enormous open world—and gives it an upgrade.
Seek out new guns, deadlier foes, and a darker, more sinister plot. The Dying Light franchise is already praised for its fluid movement and frightening nighttime scenes, so if you enjoy high-speed zombie combat, watch out for this one.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered
Release date: 19 January 2024 (Remastered)
Right, technically, The Last of Us Part II has “infected” and not regular zombies, but come on—it should be here.
This remastered edition of Part II brings enhanced graphics, increased frame rates, and some added content to an already amazing game. If you haven’t played it yet, buckle up for one of the most emotional, tension-filled, and wonderfully narrated games out there. The battle is brutal, the world is realistic, and the infected fight is downright chilling.

Back 4 Blood
Release Date: October 12, 2021
From the creators of Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood is the definitive multiplayer zombie shooter. Have some friends over (or play alone for your courage) and fight wave after wave of zombies in frantic, adrenaline-soaked missions.
The AI director creates every playthrough unique, with challenge and enemy adapting to how you’re performing. If you enjoy Left 4 Dead or simply want a game to play with friends that’s fun, this one’s a no-brainer.

World War Z: Aftermath
Release Date: September 21, 2021
Imagine Back 4 Blood but with an even bigger zombie horde. World War Z: Aftermath does that frantic co-op shooter formula and turns the dial to 11.
We’re dealing with dozens of zombies running at you all at the same time, piling on top of each other like in the films. Whether you’re shooting them down with a turret or taking them out with traps, the action doesn’t let up. It’s pure zombie-killing enjoyment.

Days Gone
Release Date: April 26, 2019 (PS4), PS5 Enhanced
Perhaps one of the most underrated games on this list, Days Gone is an open-world survival game where you’re playing Deacon St. John, a biker attempting to survive in a world invaded by “Freakers.”
Unlike all the other zombie games out there, these zombies behave like real, creepy mobs—if you run into a mob, the best thing you can do is flee. The story in this game is heartbreaking, the level design is perfect, and the bike-riding mechanic is a great twist. If you have not played this one, do yourself a favor and play it.

Resident Evil 4 Remake
Release Date: March 24, 2023
The Resident Evil 4 Remake is a masterwork, not just a nostalgic journey. This recreation of the 2005 classic features improved gameplay, new graphics, and even more intensity.
Playing as Leon S. Kennedy, you are entrusted with saving the president’s daughter from a dangerous cult. Some of the most exciting set-piece confrontations in gaming history will be encountered along the journey, along with terrifying beasts and lethal villagers. Any zombie enthusiast should play this game because of its well-executed combat, gripping horror, and ideal balance of action and tension.
