Covenant Game: Dark Fantasy Meets FPS Action
If you’re into dark fantasy worlds, intense combat, and games that don’t hold your hand, Covenant game might be one of the most exciting indie games on the horizon.Legion Studios is developing the game — a small but mighty team of just 12 people, many of whom previously worked on massive titles like DOOM, Halo, God of War, and Call of Duty. That kind of background instantly got me interested.
|What Is Covenant?
Covenant game is a first-person action RPG that mixes Soulslike combat, spellcasting, and gunplay, all set in a dark, decaying fantasy world. You play as a divine messenger sent to bring balance to a world that’s clearly fallen apart.
What caught my attention right away was the tone. The world looks brutal, mysterious, and full of secrets, the kind of place where you don’t just survive, you uncover forgotten truths and question your own purpose.
|Gameplay Details
Here’s what we know so far about how the game actually plays:
First-person combat: Expect close-quarters sword fighting, ranged gunplay, and magic spells, all from a visceral first-person perspective.
Stance system: You’ll switch between different combat stances to adapt to different enemy types and scenarios.
Magic is more than fireballs: Spells can affect the environment and change how you navigate the world. That kind of design really excites me.
Metroidvania-style world: Areas open up as you unlock new powers, so exploration is deeply tied to progression.
Multiplayer: PvE and PvP modes are in the works, details are scarce, but I’m already imagining intense magical duels in this world and hopefully crossplay.
|World & Atmosphere
Visually, Covenant nails that gritty fantasy vibe. The environments are moody, foggy, and broken down, but in a way that makes you want to explore every corner. If you like the haunting tone of Dark Souls or Bloodborne, this one looks like it’s going for a similar vibe, just from a first-person perspective.

|Who’s Making It?
The studio behind Covenant game is Legion Studios, they might be small, but they’re stacked with talent. When I heard that former devs from DOOM, Halo, and God of War were working on this, it instantly made sense why the combat looks so tight and the world feels so intense.
You can tell this is a passion project. They’ve said they’re using their experience to build something bold without all the limitations of big-studio bureaucracy.
|Platforms & Release Info
Covenant is currently planned for:
PC (Steam and Epic Games Store)
PlayStation 5
Xbox Series X|S
No mention of PS4, Xbox One, or Switch, and to be honest, I doubt it’ll hit older consoles. The game looks and feels like it’s being built for current-gen hardware.
As for release timing, there’s no official date yet. It’s still in development, so I’m guessing we’re looking at 2025 or later. But with the kind of quality they’re aiming for, I’m okay waiting.
I’ve seen a lot of “Soulslike” games lately, but Covenant stands out. The first-person perspective, the blend of melee, guns, and magic, the Metroidvania-style world, it feels like a real evolution of the genre, not just a copy.
If you’re into dark, immersive, challenging games with deep combat systems and mysterious worlds, Covenant is absolutely one to keep your eye on.
