Diablo 4 Season 8: What You Need to Know

Diablo 4 Season 8 is right around the corner, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most intense updates yet. Officially titled Belial’s Return, this season is also being called the “Season of the Bosses”, and for good reason. Blizzard is putting the spotlight back on the boss battles, and the star of the show is none other than Belial, the Lord of Lies.

If you’ve been waiting for a tougher challenge (or just want revenge on an old foe), this one’s for you.

|Belial’s Supreme Form and the Lair Boss Ladder

Belial is stepping up as the new end-tier threat in the revamped Lair Boss ladder. When Season 8 kicks off on April 29, he’ll be the ultimate test of your skills. What’s wild is that his smaller form can actually show up randomly after you beat other Lair Bosses. If you manage to defeat him, he’ll drop a Lair Key – which you’ll need to summon his Supreme version for the real showdown.

Also, Lair Boss summoning just got way easier. No more paying up or jumping through hoops. It’s now free, and the system’s been streamlined so you know exactly what you need to summon each boss. Season 8 also introduces two new bosses: Harbinger of Hatred and Urivar, who are joining the rotation.

|Class Changes You’ll Want to Know About

Blizzard is rolling out a bunch of balance changes in Season 8, and there’s some good stuff in here. If you’re a Barbarian main, rejoice—Whirlwind just got buffed. Druid’s Earthen Might also gets a nice boost, and Sorcerers are in for a full rework of the Avalanche skill.

The devs are clearly listening to feedback and trying to make each class feel more fun and flexible.

Plenty more is covered in the livestream below, and you can also scan through every single change in the Season 8 patch notes right here.

|New Seasonal Rewards System: Reliquaries

Say goodbye to the old-school battle pass. Season 8 brings in the Reliquary system, which gives you more control over how you earn and unlock seasonal rewards. There are multiple reward catalogs now. One is free, the others are premium – and instead of grinding linearly, you’ll use something called Favor Tokens to pick what you want.

You earn Favor Tokens by playing the game, completing seasonal quests and killing monsters. You can even carry them over to the next season (as long as you don’t hit the 99-token cap). Finish all rewards in a catalog and you get a bonus item on top.

It’s a smarter system, honestly. More choice, less grind.

Diablo 4 Season 8 feels like a real turning point for the game. It’s doubling down on what makes Diablo so good – brutal boss fights, deep class systems, and that “just one more run” feeling. Belial’s Return isn’t just another seasonal refresh, it’s a full-on boss battle experience with new mechanics, smarter rewards, and more variety.

Whether you’re grinding dungeons solo or diving into boss fights with friends, this season is stacked. Time to gear up.
