Is Sons of the Forest Crossplay?

If you’ve been following survival horror games recently, you’ve probably heard about Sons of the Forest. It’s the sequel to The Forest, and just like the original, this game throws you into a dangerous, mysterious island where the goal is simple: survive. I’ve spent a few hours exploring its creepy caves, building makeshift shelters, and panicking every time something rustled in the trees, and let me tell you, it’s intense in all the best ways. One of the first things I wanted to know before jumping in was Is Sons of the Forest crossplay?

Right now, the short answer is: no, Sons of the Forest does not support cross-platform play. The game is currently only available on PC through Steam, and there’s no way to connect with friends on other platforms. The game does support multiplayer on PC.

The developers, Endnight Games, haven’t confirmed any plans for crossplay support yet. And while the original Forest game eventually made its way to PlayStation 4, it never had crossplay either, so I wouldn’t count on it happening anytime soon. Still, never say never.

At the moment, Sons of the Forest is a PC exclusive, and there’s been no official word about a release for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. That said, the original game did launch on console eventually, so I wouldn’t be surprised if a port is in the works, especially given how popular this sequel is turning out to be.

I’d love to see a console release in the future. The game has such a strong following that bringing it to more platforms just makes sense. Until then, though, it’s PC-only.

|Multiplayer: Still Worth Playing with Friends?

Even without crossplay, Sons of the Forest has a great multiplayer experience, as long as everyone’s on PC. You can play co-op with up to eight players, and honestly, that’s how I’ve had the most fun with the game. Exploring the island with friends, building a base together, and fending off waves of enemies at night? It’s chaotic and awesome.

The co-op mechanics are smooth, and the game really feels like it was designed to be played with others. If you’ve got a group of friends on Steam, you’re in for a treat.To play co-op, just head to the main menu, click Multiplayer, and choose Host Game to start a new session or continue a saved one. Invite friends through your Steam list, and once they join, hit Start to dive in together.

If you’re joining a friend’s game, go to Multiplayer > Join Game, find their server, and click Join. Up to 8 players can team up in one session just remember, only the host’s progress is saved.

Sons of the Forest isn’t cross-platform yet, and it’s not on consoles, but what it does offer is still really solid. If you’re on PC and looking for a creepy, immersive survival game to play solo or with friends, this one is definitely worth checking out.

I’m hopeful we’ll get a console port or crossplay update in the future, but for now, the PC version is where the action is.
