Trench Tales PS5? Is It Happening?

Every now and then, a game trailer pops up that makes you pause mid-scroll, rewind, and go, “Wait… what is this?” That was me with Trench Tales. I wasn’t expecting much, just another indie shooter, right? But nope. What I saw was eerie, cinematic, and honestly? Kinda haunting in the best way.

|So, What Is Trench Tales?

Trench Tales is this gritty, war-torn third-person shooter being made by Talking Drums, a tiny indie team with a crazy sense of style. The game released a new gameplay trailer at Galaxies Gaming Showcase 2025. It drops you into a surreal, almost post-apocalyptic battlefield that feels like a nightmare version of WWI, fog everywhere, ancient mechs half-buried in mud, and creepy enemies stalking you in the dark.

You play as a soldier dragged into this twisted dimension, and while not much is clear about who you are or why you’re there, one thing’s obvious: this world wants you dead.

But it’s not just a “run and gun” deal. There’s storytelling. Lore. Subtle environmental clues. That slow-burn, uncover-it-yourself kind of mystery I love in games.

|How Does It Play?

Gameplay-wise, this thing looks like a beautiful blend of:

  • Tactical third-person shooting — cover matters, movement feels weighty, and each shot looks like it hurts.

  • Special powers — yeah, it’s not just bullets. There’s magic. Or something like it. One clip showed the main character summoning lightning through the ground. Not your average war game.

  • Character customization — pick your gear, your playstyle, and your approach.

  • Story-driven progression — this isn’t a roguelike or arcade shooter. You’re pushing through chapters of a dying world, slowly piecing together what’s going on.

It gives me Remnant: From the Ashes energy, with just a dash of Bloodborne tone, only grittier, dirtier, and way more grounded.

|Is Trench Tales Coming to PS5?

Alright, here’s the big one: Trench Tales PS5, is it happening?

Right now, the game is officially announced for PC, with Early Access launching on May 6, 2025. There’s no hard confirmation for consoles yet… but let’s be honest: it’s probably coming.

The publisher, Crytivo, has a history of supporting indie titles that eventually make their way to consoles. And from what we’ve seen of the visuals and control scheme? It feels like it was made for a DualSense.

So while we wait for a formal PS5 reveal, I’ve got my fingers crossed, and if you’re a console player, I’d suggest wishlisting it anyway. That stuff actually matters to devs.

|The Studio Story Is Pretty Cool Too

This isn’t some huge team in a shiny office tower. Trench Tales is being made by a solo dev, yes, one person, who’s been posting progress on Reddit and YouTube for months. That kind of commitment is wild. And now, with Crytivo backing the project, this small dream is getting the spotlight it deserves.

You can literally watch the transformation of this game from “interesting indie project” to “damn, this looks legit.”

|Platforms & Launch Details

Here’s what’s on the table right now:

  • PC (Steam & Epic Games Store) Early Access on May 6, 2025

  • No news yet on PS5, PS4, Xbox, or Switch

If you’re curious to try it early, Steam playtests are open right now. If the game delivers even half the atmosphere the trailer promised, I’ll be hooked.

Trench Tales came out of nowhere and now it’s one of my most anticipated indies. Between the striking visuals, the raw and eerie vibe, and the tight third-person combat, this game is oozing personality.

If you’re into dark, stylized shooters that aren’t afraid to be weird and mysterious, the kind of game that feels like someone dreamed it more than designed it, then keep Trench Tales on your radar. Especially if it lands on PS5, where it honestly feels like it belongs.
